I've heard conversation coming out of animal pens that is more intelligent than what is going on in here.

Don't do it man!!!

"An 8-year-old Louisiana boy has shot and killed his caregiver, and the video game "Grand Theft Auto IV" is being blamed for his actions.
The incident took place in a mobile home park near Slaughter, Louisiana, and the East Feliciana Parish Sheriff's Office has ruled it a homicide.
The boy, whose name has not been released, reportedly took a gun and shot his elderly caregiver -- identified as Marie Smothers, a woman of about 87-90 years old (her age hasn't been confirmed yet) -- in the head. The gun is believed to be Smothers'.
The boy said it was an accident, but officers believe it was intentional. The theory is that the boy took the gun and shot Smothers in the head while she was watching TV.
According to reports, officers noted that the boy was playing "Grand Theft Auto IV" right before the murder occurred. The child's motivation for the murder hasn't been confirmed as violence learned from the video game, but reports are leaning in that direction. They seem to be just assumptions with no real evidence.
Reports also note that the child had a normal and loving relationship with Smothers.
The child has been released into the custody of his parents and likely won't be charged for the crime considering his age, according to Huffington Post.
Whether or not video games lead to violent behavior has been a question under review for some time now. Many conflicting studies have been conducted on the subject, but none provide definitive evidence for or against the claim.
For instance, a 2011 study by researchers at the University of Missouri (MU) found that the brain becomes less responsive to violence after excessive and short exposure -- meaning that video game violence leads to an increase in aggression as the line between appropriate behavior and inappropriate behavior is blurred.
The National Rifle Association (NRA) even blamed violent video games for violent crimes earlier this year after the tragic massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut.
However, a 2007 study by Texas A&M International University researchers in Laredo, Texas found no real link between violent video games and aggressive behavior.
"Grand Theft Auto" is a video game series that allows gamers to engage in motor vehicle theft within the game. It has strong adult themes, such as the use of weapons and even sexual content, and it is rated "M" for mature.

Well...erm...thats not good, but i dont think video games are the cause, murder etc has been around thousands of years and way before video games.

Surely any sane person will be able enough to not let actions in video games steer them into something.

I play a lot of games a fair few of which are simulators so if video games make you want to act like them how comes i havent become a train driver?

IMO video games take you away from reality and to a place where its alright to murder prostitues and mug people, no one gets hurt or anything as its a game.

This is it, it all depends on the person and if they can recognize it's just a game and not real life. Oh, and not letting 8 year olds play games rated for 17+...

I hear about all this so called need for community parenting. You know "it takes a community to raise a child" things like that. How can you blame the parents when it is the community that is responsible for raising the child?

I don't think the community will fit in that trailer.

Because they can freely go to the local store and buy guns. Every household has at least one. Watch bowling for columbine or whatever it is. Really opens ya eyes.

When people make such broad generalizations like that ^^^, you can't or shouldn't believe them. Everybody in Australia hates Aboriginals and loves Vegemite and has a pet kangaroo(see?). I don't have a gun anymore, and despite what Dylan thinks, not every resident owns a gun. We just have the FREEDOM to do so.

I do hate aboriginals, love vegemite and have a pet kangaroo at dads farm. Hahah but yeah seriously I realise not all Americans are sketchy murderers. It just doesn't do America any favors that the only time we hear about use is when someone kills someone. Like how last week 3 kids ages 15, 16 and 17 went out and shot and killed a Aussie over there on a baseball scholarship for a initiation. All he was doing was walking home from his girlfriends. That shit doesn't happen anywhere else.

See? You're doing it again! It happens in China, India, Bora Bora too. They just don't have Fox or CNN blaring in their faces about our "epidemics". You need to LOOK for other aspects instead of judging by top stories. C'mon mate, you can do it!

I read about that story too Dylan. But the facts I read were pretty different.

They killed him for funsies. Shot at the guy trying to help him. Bragged about it on Facebook. And the guy was out for a run.

I like the one where the two black kids beat the 88 year old man to death. They both claim they're innocent and didn't beat him. But one of them said it was a drug deal gone bad and that's why they beat him. Hmm, changing stories much.

But these killings aren't racially motivated... I mean a Hispanic man, that is being attacked, shooting his attacker in self defense is clearly racially motivated. That hispanic man HATES black people. But these unprovoked attacks by black people on innocent white people people minding their own business, no those aren't ever drawn into question. Just random acts of violence because these black people that are so poor they can't even afford food played a video game on a $300 gaming system on a $600 TV with a $300 sound system are so brainwashed and desensitized by that video game theat they think it is okay and not a big deal at all to just go around killing random white people.

Did I get that right havoc?
