If you used the technique where you take 2 screenshots (1 with rider and 1 without), then do a "refine edge" on the rider

I did.
Did you use "redefine edge" and then smooth and feather a little, when having the rider selected. Then inverse the selection and press delete 1-4 times. (to delete a little at the edges, p2sta's screenshot tutorial includes that. think you can find it in his signature.)
