No, an AMD Fx-8350 overclocked to 4.5ghz. I'm going to try what Ryan said and see if that helps. It should, I didn't realize I had mine on Shader/Direct, not copy. That was a derp on me.Dunivant25 wrote:Is the Processor a i5 you are using? Awesome, thanks Chris. Hopefully people are considerate and wait an hour for us.

Yes in the past it has been used. And last year 450 and 250 had separate servers. 450 and 250 Pro Top 15 of the points last year had their own qualifying server as well. I'm gonna see with Yohann if someway for future rounds we can get the UID's that have registered for that class can get into certain servers. Highly doubt it will be possible for tonight, so that's why I say spread the word, and tell Ams to stay out of the servers until its race time for us.checkerz wrote:It was done in the past like 2013-ish, but for some reason I know it wasn't used moving forward. Not sure if there was an issue, a pain to put it in, or just lack of desire to do it. Not sure. Actually, I do think we had a seeded server just last year right for at least the top x amount of riders?ShackAttack12 wrote:
Can't you just restrict entry to the qual servers to only those UID's that have registered for the race?
I also just noticed only 9 servers are listed for quali compared to the 18 used last year. I have contacted Max with a couple of solutions that will hopefully work to get more servers to help thin the herd per say.

Shaders/Copy should help a ton. I run 60, 8, 256x256, Mipmaps=NO, Compress Textures=Always, Shaders/Copy, Shaders=Yes, 70, 8, No, Yes.
If anyone is needing help trying to optimize there game for tonight contact me, and I'll try to help how ever I can. Also if you want to test erode with over 20 people go to mxs.flowtechmxs.com:19890 because they constantly have over 25 people on 2017 SX tracks with erode on.

I wish there was a way for us (Am's) to come in the server, but be put in warmup only. I like watching Pro's to see what lines they use.

Why not just watch lines from the actual races?RXR_Banjo wrote:Just stay on the gate lol

Should be noted that these settings aren't configured for full performance, as I imagine Chase is also going for some higher quality in addition to stable FPS. Just a couple of nuggets from time's past regarding a few of these settings...Dunivant25 wrote: Shaders/Copy should help a ton. jlv wrote: If you're running in shaders copy mode, you're running 256x256 terrain textures. You need to use one of the direct modes for it to honor settings over 256x256.
This is pretty good proof that 256x256 is good enough for the standard wide FOV setting. Lots of people seem to run 1024x1024 and then switch to copy mode thinking it's faster. Since copy mode limits the resolution to 256x256, it does run faster, and they never notice the change in image quality. 256x256 direct should be faster on most cards and look exactly the same.
jlv wrote:The only reason to turn off ground mipmaps is if you're running an older Intel GPU with bugged mipmaps on GPU rendered textures.
jlv wrote:It uses compressed textures to save some graphics memory. I think it's a 4:1 ratio but it's been a while since I read the spec.
So unless any of this has changed - which is possible since I haven't been too in touch with things around here lately - there's room for improvement in performance based on those settings. If you're running 256x256 or lower, make sure shaders is set to direct, I cant emphasize that enough. Most people will likely benefit from having mipmaps on (I believe), and while compressing textures may increase your load time a bit (which is something to consider if you're worried about timing out, I suppose), it should improve in-game performance - which Chase has noted as his setting, but this is one that I think people have gotten confused with in the past.jlv wrote:Try both "no" and "always". The compression works well on textures with no sharp color transitions but for color text and logos you can see the artifacts. A compressed texture should use the same memory as the next lower detail setting (25% the original memory usage).
GL to everyone in the season opener, and best wishes to the EMF/rF conglomerate at the outset of this new MXS series structure.

Please please please let there be a seeded server. I thought last year only those signed up could get in the servers not in warmup ? Maybe it was just the one for top 20 in points or whatever. Hopefully there is atleast that!

Re: 2018 [NA region] Supercross series by MXSEMF
Sorry for dp, but I always run 256x256 or less textures and have tried direct vs copy and believe copy has always given me better results. Maybe it's just something with my system though

Has weirdly been the exact opposite for me, but I've heard from others that they feel copy is best for them, too - so this could be something that has changed? Maybe the man himself will chime in on thatryanmx25 wrote:Sorry for dp, but I always run 256x256 or less textures and have tried direct vs copy and believe copy has always given me better results. Anyway, wasn't saying everyone needed to use those settings, just what I remembered reading from JLV previously that has always seemed to work for me - but might not be that way for others.

This is a shady memory, but I do believe I remember jlv saying copy was better for pcs that lacked a dedicated GPU, and direct would run faster if you had dedicated graphics. I could easily be wrong though
