You might disagree with Bush/Cheney, but they're just normal politicians who the left painted as Nazis. Invading the two countries that were harboring terrorists who attacked the world trade center was not outrageous. (If you don't think that's true, look up where the 93 bombers went.) Also, read Bin Laden's fatwa if you still think Iraq was an unrelated issue. I agree that you can make valid arguments against the war but the idea that Bush was a Nazi for doing it is disingenuous at best and makes an environment where charlatans like Trump prosper.TeamHavocRacing wrote: ↑Sat Jan 08, 2022 9:49 pm I think what Cheney did was to wipe George H.W. Bush's ass by getting Saddam since Bush couldn't. Right when we should've redoubled our Bin Laden search, he forced Iraq on us. Going it alone with pathetically weak arguments. That is what got the most hate for starters. It ruined a generation much like Vietnam, but those veterans weren't nearly as abandoned. I think that administration made it's own bed and had to lay in it. However, people are getting misty about Dubya. Don't!!! Trump proved that when you pander to the lowest common denominator at a time when the left was foolishly overconfident in their winning, you had a lackadaisical left response and a stimulated right and the popularity contest was won. Perfect storm.
When you look at the rise of Trump, one of the ways people justified supporting such an obvious liar was "but he fights". That was a reference to Bush and other Republicans passively enduring totally unfair attacks from the left without fighting back. If the left didn't peddle such asinine lies about guys like Bush and Romney, Trump would have had a much harder time gaining traction.
